Operational Excellence and Process Improvement for a Healthcare Provider

A leading home healthcare service provider sought to identify and implement operational efficiencies that would help them achieve significant cost savings.

Situation:  The home healthcare service provider identified a need to determine and implement a strategy that would lead to significant transformation and operational efficiency without compromising service quality.  

Approach:  BIE conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the business function combining both qualitative and quantitative data.  Qualitative data was captured through interviews with a sample of the company’s providers, as well as observation of providers as they interacted with patients in their own homes.  Quantitative data was captured through surveys in addition to the analysis of detailed interaction metrics that were already captured by the firm in electronic medical records and other systems.   

Results:  BIE utilized findings from the comprehensive assessment of the business to develop a new operational model that the company could implement to ensure that providers were able to obtain the assistance that they needed while achieving significant cost savings for the organization.
